
Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines – In the midst of heavy rain yesterday, Asec. Virgilio Lazaga, CDA BOD III did not fail Rice-Up Irrigators and Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (RIFAC) who invited him to join their reorganization meeting and renew their commitment to cooperative spirit.
In fact, despite RIFAC challenges for almost 4 years of existence, board members and officers never lose hope even more than hundreds of its members discontinue supporting the RIFAC because of the lack of support from the government.
According to Edward Cancio, RIFAC Chairman, in his welcome remarks, he was thankful to Asec. Lazaga for gracing the event and pledging all out support to RIFAC that will give hope to its members and co-officers who are longing for government support. Cancio added that the assistance was made by Asec. Lazaga will mark the beginning of restoring the trust and confidence of its members to CDA.
The event was highlighted with the RIFAC proposed long term plan of mechanization of agriculture program to more than 800 hectares of land under their cooperative and Agri-Integrated System Solutions (AISS) that focus on digitalization program - introduction of the solutions for agriculture value chain, leading to BC Agri-System, Bagsakan Systems, Delivery -Pickup - Transfer System and the PabiliOnlineStore-- in collaboration with Henry V. Bayubay, BOD - Business Development Officer of RIFAC. The latter’s group has been working on a digitalization program that will be introduced and utilized by Cooperative Cooperation Network Philippines (CCNPh) within the cooperative community.
The event was completed by Asec. Lazaga delivered an inspirational talk regarding the government effort to advance the CDA program in empowering the cooperative agricultural sector to battle food security, and the introduction of a new program under the CDA.
Arnel Garcia, RIFAC BOD, Planning and Technical Officer said in his closing remark that it is not too late for them to dream again and if there is somebody who has the heart to help the community of farmers, just like Asec.
