MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday urged Filipinos to embody the spirit of kindness and compassion this Christmas, encouraging everyone to become a “source of light and goodness” as the nation celebrates the birth of Christ.
In his Christmas message, Marcos joined Filipinos nationwide in marking what he described as a joyful and meaningful season—one that honors the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrates God’s blessings, and strengthens bonds among families and loved ones.
The President highlighted the uniquely warm and festive character of the Filipino Christmas, saying it offers countless opportunities to reflect on life’s blessings and express gratitude.
“Once again, it is the time of the year when we gather to honor the birth of Christ our Savior, thank the Lord Almighty for all the graces we have received, and enjoy the company of our families and loved ones,” Marcos said.
He also reminded the public to extend compassion to those who are less fortunate, particularly the poor, the sick, disaster victims, and other marginalized sectors of society.
Marcos called on Filipinos to follow Christ’s example by sharing their blessings and showing generosity, especially toward children, whom he described as the heart of the Christmas celebration.
“Like Jesus who brought salvation to the world, let us share our abundance with the people around us,” he said. “Let us bring kindness, happiness, and good cheer to everyone we meet, especially our children, for whom these festivities truly matter.”
The President expressed hope that the season would bring fulfillment, peace, and renewed faith to Filipino families, and that the values of love and goodwill would continue beyond the holidays.
“Let us become a source of light and goodness to our fellow Filipinos this Christmas and in the years to come,” Marcos said.
