Agriculture Ministry plans cultivation of sugar beets in Issyk-Kul region

Sowing of sugar beet is planned in Issyk-Kul region, Agriculture Ministry's Farming Department Chief Nurdin Dovletov said.

The domestic production of potato makes around 600,000-700,000 tons. Some 1.2 million tons of potatoes are grown in the country. Farmers can't sale large volumes of potatoes then, the official said.

The Agriculture Ministry is holding talks with farmers in order to start cultivation of sugar beets in Issyk-Kul region.

"It is planned to sow 100 ha with sugar beets. The sugar beet yield will be high in Issyk-Kul region," the official suggested.
