Davao CAgrO releases 1.8K fishing licenses in 2024

DAVAO CITY – The Fishery Division of the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAgrO) issued 1,865 fishing licenses and registered 865 boats in 2024, an official said Tuesday.

In a radio interview, Aimee Evora, head of CAgrO’s fishery division, said their office would continue conducting onsite fishing license and boat registration this year and urged the fishermen to secure their licenses.

“This quarter, we have scheduled a series of onsite fishing licenses and boat registration in different barangays. We invited the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard, City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), and Philippines Crops Insurance Corporation, making the activity a one-stop shop for the city’s fisherfolk,” she said.

Starting Jan. 28, the one-stop shop for fishing licenses and boat registration will open at Barangay 76-A Bucana, in front of the barangay hall by the coast, followed by others until March 4.

Evora said fishermen who want to get their licenses must prepare the following requirements: a cedula and a duly filled out fisherfolk registration form for a PHP50 payment.

For boat registration, requirements include a PNP maritime clearance certificate, a barangay certificate as proof of ownership, and a PHP75 payment to the CTO for motorized boats or PHP50 for non-motorized boats.

“Owners must also be listed fisherfolk in the city to register their boats. We also remind the public that the fishing license and boat registration are mandatory for commercial and recreational fishing,” Evora said.
