DAVAO CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) 11 (Davao) handed over three delivery vehicles worth PHP5 million to Bansalan town, Davao del Sur on Monday, aimed at enhancing the "Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita" program.
Marie Ann Constantino, DA-11 regional technical director for operations, said in a statement Tuesday that the vehicles were funded through the agency's Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program.
“It targets to improve food access and boost farmers' productivity and income through efficient transport,” she said.
Constantino said the Kadiwa initiative directly connects food producers with consumers, reducing product costs by as much as 20 percent.
“This assistance will uplift the lives of farmers by providing better opportunities to bring their produce to market, ensuring fair prices, and fostering stronger connections between producers and consumers,” she added.
Vice Mayor Samuel Gadingan thanked DA-11 for the support, adding the project will significantly aid local farmers.
"We also hope for DA’s continued support for the whole region," Gadingan said.
The initiative is part of DA’s broader effort to empower farmers by improving market access and streamlining the transport of agricultural products.
