LandBank Launches AGRISENSO Plus Digital Lending to Empower Filipino Farmers

MANILA – In a major step toward digital financial inclusion in agriculture, the Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) has officially streamlined its AGRISENSO Plus Lending Program through online integration—making it easier and faster for farmers and fisherfolk across the country to access loans.

The new system enables farmers to apply digitally, reducing paperwork and processing time while broadening access to affordable credit. LandBank President and CEO Lynette Ortiz, together with Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., led the nationwide rollout held on October 30 at the Cadiz City Arena in Negros Occidental, where more than 1,700 farmers gathered from Cadiz and nearby municipalities.

Developed in partnership with the DA, Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and private sector partners, the AGRISENSO Plus program offers a value chain-based financing model that provides comprehensive support to agricultural producers. The package includes simplified documentation, free life and credit life insurance, and expanded access to technical and market assistance to enhance productivity and profitability.

Under the enhanced program, small farmers, fishers, and agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) enjoy a lower fixed interest rate of 3 percent per annum—down from 4 percent—while cooperatives, MSMEs, large enterprises, and agriculture graduates benefit from competitive rates.

As of August 2025, LandBank has released ₱1.78 billion in loans under AGRISENSO Plus, assisting over 12,000 borrowers nationwide. The Negros Occidental rollout follows successful launches in Pampanga, Cagayan, Isabela, Batanes, Bukidnon, Iloilo, and Palawan.

“LandBank has seen how our farmers continue to face numerous challenges—from natural calamities like the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon to the effects of climate change and market instability,” Ortiz said. “Through AGRISENSO Plus, we aim to deliver holistic, practical, and sustainable financial solutions that truly empower our farmers and fisherfolk.”

The initiative reflects LandBank’s commitment to advancing digital transformation in agricultural lending—building a more inclusive, resilient, and technology-driven rural economy for the Filipino farming community.
