Megawide Secures ?1.19-B Deal for Baguio’s Modern Intermodal Terminal

BAGUIO CITY — A major step toward easing traffic congestion and improving transport connectivity in the Summer Capital is now underway as the city government prepares to officially award the ₱1.19-billion Baguio City Integrated Terminal (BCIT) project to Megawide Construction Corporation, one of the country’s top infrastructure developers.

The announcement follows the Public-Private Partnership Pre-Qualification, Bids, and Awards Committee (PPP-PBAC) confirmation that no competing proposals were received during the comparative challenge period that ended on October 14, 2025. In Resolution No. 1-2025, the PBAC recommended to Mayor Benjamin Magalong the awarding of the project to Megawide.

“No competing proposals were submitted during the comparative challenge process, prompting the PBAC's unanimous recommendation to award the project to Megawide,” said City Treasurer and PBAC Chair Alex Cabarrubias.

Transforming Baguio’s Mobility Landscape

Megawide — renowned for its world-class infrastructure projects like the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) — earlier submitted an unsolicited proposal to build the BCIT. The project is envisioned to decongest Baguio’s central business district by serving as the main gateway for provincial buses and public utility vehicles entering the city.

Once operational, provincial buses will terminate at the BCIT instead of entering the downtown area, helping reduce traffic and improve commuter convenience. The facility will also cater to local jeepneys, modernized jeepneys, and taxis, ensuring seamless intermodal transport integration.

World-Class Terminal for the Highlands

The terminal will rise on a five-hectare site in Barangay Dontogan along Marcos Highway, under a usufruct agreement between the city government and the Bureau of Animal Industry–Department of Agriculture (BAI–DA).

Designed to handle up to 400 buses daily, the terminal will feature:

  • Modern ticketing booths
  • Comfortable waiting lounges
  • Clean restrooms with diaper-changing and lactation stations
  • Commercial parking and park-and-go services
  • Retail and dining areas for travelers’ convenience

Megawide is expected to complete the terminal within two years, setting a new benchmark for urban transport infrastructure in Northern Luzon.
