Negrense Farmers Bring Harvest to the City in Weeklong RNegros Fair

BACOLOD CITY – Fresh produce and proudly local products from Negrense farmers are taking center stage this week as the RNegros Farmers Fair opened Monday at Robinsons Bacolod, connecting government-assisted producers directly to urban consumers.

The week-long trade fair features 24 exhibitors from farmers’ associations and partner agencies across Negros Occidental, showcasing agricultural goods, processed foods, crafts, and eco-friendly items — all locally sourced and community-grown.

Now on its fourth year, the RNegros Farmers Fair is a joint initiative of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), the Department of Agriculture–Negros Island Region (DA-NIR), and Robinsons Bacolod Mall Management, aimed at empowering small farmers and agripreneurs through direct market access and sustainable enterprise.

DA-NIR Regional Technical Director for Operations Alejandro Rafal lauded the fair as “a meaningful celebration of local enterprise and agricultural pride,” praising the resilience and innovation of Negrense farmers.

“This is a testament to the strength and creativity of our local farmers and agripreneurs — resilient, resourceful, and ready to take part in the growing movement toward local sourcing and sustainable markets,” Rafal said.

Among this year’s participants are the Rural Improvement Club Women Entrepreneurs Association, Kumaliskis Integrated Social Forestry Farmers Association, Association of Young Agripreneurs in Negros, Pandanon Integrated Upland Small Farmers Association, and Murcia Integrated Mushroom Growers Association, among others.

Government and institutional partners such as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and Negros Occidental Technology Livelihood and Development Center also joined the fair to showcase livelihood and support programs.

Since its launch in 2021, the RNegros Farmers Fair has benefited more than 6,000 farmers and fisherfolk, promoting their agricultural products and helping them gain direct exposure to the market — a vital step toward building sustainable livelihoods and resilient rural communities.
