MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – State universities and colleges (SUCs) in Northern Mindanao are urging Congress to approve a bigger budget for 2026 to fund key infrastructure and development initiatives.
During a press briefing on Friday, Dr. Rolito Eballe, president of Central Mindanao University (CMU), revealed that three major projects in their Maramag, Bukidnon campus were not included in the Department of Budget and Management’s National Expenditure Program.
“We have already submitted several proposals, complete with program of works and engineering blueprints,” Eballe said.
Eballe, who also heads the Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture and Resources Research and Development, noted that SUCs also receive additional support from agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology.
He cited Mindanao State University–Naawan in Misamis Oriental, which has been allotted at least PHP2 billion to enhance its digital and connectivity infrastructure.
Mindanao SUCs are set to participate in congressional budget hearings on Sept. 23, 25, and 26, where they will present and lobby for their budget proposals.
