P20 Rice Rollout Set for Sept. 13 Across Negros Island Region

DUMAGUETE CITY – Residents of the Negros Island Region (NIR) will have the chance to buy rice at PHP20 per kilo as the Department of Agriculture (DA) launches a special rollout of the government’s subsidized rice program on Saturday, September 13.

Alejandro Rafal, DA-NIR Regional Technical Director for Operations and officer-in-charge, said the activity will be conducted simultaneously in Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, and Siquijor.

For Negros Oriental, the National Food Authority (NFA) has allocated 150 bags of rice at 50 kilos each. The rice will be sold at the Negros Oriental State University gymnasium in Dumaguete City starting at 8 a.m.

“This is open to everyone, regardless of social status. Each person may purchase up to 10 kilos of the PHP20 rice, provided they bring a valid government-issued ID,” Rafal said, emphasizing that distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The special rollout is part of Handog ng Pangulo (Gift of the President), a one-day caravan of government services coinciding with the 68th birthday of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
