DAR Boosts Sorsogon Farmers’ Egg Enterprise with Motorized Hauler and Support Package

LEGAZPI CITY – Farmers in Gubat, Sorsogon, are set to expand their egg production enterprise and reach wider markets after receiving a motorized hauler and enterprise support package from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

The assistance, provided under the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty through the Program Beneficiaries Development, is designed to strengthen agrarian reform beneficiaries by improving productivity, reducing costs, and enhancing market access.

Alongside the hauler, the Jupi-San Vicente Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Jusafarco) also received an egg production enterprise package worth PHP425,000, which includes two ready-to-lay chicken cages, training kits, and layer feeds.

DAR officer Eleanor Torres emphasized the impact of the support, saying the motorized hauler will not only lower transportation expenses but also enable the cooperative to sell more products due to its larger load capacity.

“Beyond expanding access to markets, the hauler provides Jusafarco with the means to scale up production and increase sales,” Torres said.

For Jusafarco president Maria Nancy Chiao, the intervention strengthens their cooperative and secures additional livelihood opportunities for members.

“Our poultry project has become a steady source of income for families. With DAR’s support, we are more confident in growing Jusafarco and sustaining our members’ needs,” she said.
