40 Civil Society Organization in Taytay Join Forces, 15 Named to Municipal Development Council

TAYTAY, PALAWAN – In a strong show of unity and people empowerment, around 40 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) gathered at the Taytay Municipal Hall for an organizational meeting that marked a milestone in participatory governance. From this assembly, 15 organizations were formally designated to represent the sector in the Municipal Development Council (MDC), giving communities a stronger voice in shaping Taytay’s growth and future.

The event was spearheaded by Taytay Mayor Norbert Salvame Lim and attended by Vice Mayor Delma Edep, Councilors Ben Salvame and Felezarte, together with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) representative Mr. Alba.

CSOs in the Philippines play a vital role in advancing people empowerment, social justice, poverty alleviation, human rights protection, and inclusive economic growth. They serve as lifelines for vulnerable communities, advocates for peace and environmental sustainability, and watchdogs for accountability and transparency—strengthening democratic governance and improving quality of life at the grassroots.

Among the attendees were Mr. Adrian Ramosa, Chairman of the Pamantolon Sagingan at Sakahan Farmers Association Inc., along with representatives of the Cuyonon Tribes led by IPS President Nenita Bibat, and several organizations affiliated with the Integrated Products Markets Association of the Philippines (IPMAPi) in the North Palawan area. Ramosa emphasized the vital role of the 15 designated CSO representatives in the Municipal Development Council (MDC), stressing that their inclusion will not only uplift farmers in Taytay but also strengthen and empower agricultural communities across the entire province of Palawan.

“CSOs are the voice of the people. Their presence in the Municipal Development Council ensures that no sector is left behind in our journey toward inclusive and sustainable development,” Ramosa said.

With this strengthened partnership between local government and CSOs, Taytay sets a powerful example of how communities and institutions can work hand-in-hand to drive meaningful change—anchored on collaboration, accountability, and a shared vision for progress.
