1,100 Caraga Farmers Receive ?3.3M Fuel Subsidy from DA

BUTUAN CITY – A total of 1,100 farmers from Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur, and Butuan City have received fuel discount cards from the Department of Agriculture in the Caraga Region (DA-13), providing them with ₱3.3 million worth of fuel subsidies to ease farm production costs.

The distribution was held on Aug. 13 and 14, with each farmer receiving ₱3,000 in fuel support. The DA-13 said the program aims to help farmers cope with rising fuel prices while sustaining productivity.

On Thursday, around 600 farmers from Santa Josefa received their discount cards, while 500 farmers in Butuan City benefited from the activity on Wednesday.

“This will help reduce our expenses in our farms, especially on fuel cost, since I am already using farm machinery in my rice field,” said Jhoncell Perida, a farmer from Santa Josefa. He noted that the ₱3,000 subsidy is enough to buy 32 liters of gasoline for his floating tiller during land preparation.

The DA-13 assured that more fuel discount vouchers will be distributed to farmers across the region in the coming weeks.
