DA highlights food innovations, tech for Filipino Food Month

ILIGAN CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) 10 (Northern Mindanao) celebrates Filipino Food Month this April by showcasing innovations and technologies that promote food security and sustainable agriculture.

As part of the celebration, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) 10’s information services staff will document the success stories of partner farmer-entrepreneurs using food technologies in the region. Many of these partners also operate Learning Sites for Agriculture.

“These inspiring stories will be compiled into a book for ATI’s 39th anniversary next year,” Vic Thor Palarca, ATI-10 senior media specialist, said Thursday.

DA-10 Executive Director Apollo Pacamalan reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to empowering local agri-entrepreneurs, improving market access, and ensuring that affordable and high-quality food products reach more communities.

“Marketing continues to be one of the greatest challenges for farmers. Activities like these encourage us to strengthen support for our producers and help bridge them to consumers,” he said.

In line with this, DA-10 is supporting farmers and fisherfolk organizations in marketing their produce during the ongoing “Kadiwa Diskwento Caravan” in Cagayan de Oro City, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry.

The event supports Presidential Proclamation 469, series of 2018, which declares April as Filipino Food Month to celebrate the country's rich culinary heritage.
